Kompetenzen
I am an environmental bioscientist with a broad interest in amphibian biogeography, emerging infectious diseases, ecology, evolution and systematics. Combining field-based and laboratory approaches, my experience spans both temperate and neotropical systems. Using harlequin toads (Atelopus) as a ‘worst-case’ model for global amphibian declines, my research during my dissertation dives into chytrid fungus reservoir community dynamics as well as tolerance mechanisms within a broader conservation perspective. Complementarily, I am focusing on disease ecology and mitigation of an emerging fungal pathogen, threatening salamander diversity in my home country Germany as well as on developing methods for on-site biomonitoring and pathogen diagnostics.
