The project "Giving nature its own rights - ethical and legal perspectives and the influence on the realization of selected SDGs" builds on the curricular content of the degree programs already mentioned. Understanding and methods for interpreting the global agenda of the United Nations (UN) with regard to sustainability - Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - are developed with a view to the political and social discussions on the chosen topic as well as to social movements in the regional...The project "Giving nature its own rights - ethical and legal perspectives and the influence on the realization of selected SDGs" builds on the curricular content of the degree programs already mentioned. Understanding and methods for interpreting the global agenda of the United Nations (UN) with regard to sustainability - Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - are developed with a view to the political and social discussions on the chosen topic as well as to social movements in the regional and national context and - enriched via the international and transcultural level of collaboration - transferred back. Students at the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld and the international partner universities will work together in teams virtually and in person under the guidance of experts from theory and practice to develop a transcultural understanding of a concept of nature's own rights on the basis of the relevant SDGs and the professional and cultural exchange. The possibilities and limits of such an eco-centric concept’s implementation in existing anthropocentric legal systems and legal practice will be made tangible using the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park as a reference object.
