Ten students working in different auditory neuroscience labs across Europe form a network combining scientific work on a specific project and intensive training in additional qualifications. The prokject in Mainz addresses the question how artificial activity patterns in the auditory cortex of mice are perceived by combining optogenetic activation of neurons in the context of a behavioral discrimination task using sounds and artificial activation patterns as cues.
