Kurzfassung
This project aims to investigate the evolution of molecular communication between prokaryotes and eukaryotes, in particular in a symbiotic context. Reference eukaryotes are sponges that represent the phylogenetically oldest metazoan phylum still extant. Application of the Suberites domuncula cell culture model will facilitate to analyze the impact of Quorum Sensing bacterial exoproducts and reference marine bacteria on poriferan cells using various techniques of proteomics ("secretomics"),...This project aims to investigate the evolution of molecular communication between prokaryotes and eukaryotes, in particular in a symbiotic context. Reference eukaryotes are sponges that represent the phylogenetically oldest metazoan phylum still extant. Application of the Suberites domuncula cell culture model will facilitate to analyze the impact of Quorum Sensing bacterial exoproducts and reference marine bacteria on poriferan cells using various techniques of proteomics ("secretomics"), transcriptomics, and genomics. Accordingly, poriferan molecular pathways, involved in the recognition of bacterial compounds, will be characterized and their role during metazoan evolution studied. This project is integrated in the Group of Scientific Interest (GIS) "Europôle Mer", axis 1: marine genomic and blue chemistry.
