In the past, nation-state cultures provided important if not dominant orientation patterns and the basis of individual identification. Given recent conflicting developments towards nationalism, protectionism and transnationalization research on question of whether or not there is a new transnational cultural identity is on the rise and what this means to various actors of global governance (GG).
In that light and following the “Think globally act locally”- paradigm educational and (human resource) development organizations need to adapt to the new transnational culture in order to apply instruments of organizational change to supply their students or employees with the necessary skills and competences to deal with future challenges and opportunities.
As the call text argues (H2020 work programme 2018-2019-2020, Europe in a changing world):
Europe faces huge challenges in reducing inequality and social exclusion. 80 million people are at risk of poverty and 14 million young people are not in education, employment or training. We have not yet overcome the economic crisis which has led to unemployment rates of 12% in general and 20% among the youth.
The aim of the research project is to gain insights about key institutions/organisations who are involved in education and development, e. g.
• International (e. g. UNESCO, WHO, …)
• Transnational (Greenpeace, Amnesty International, Doctors without Borders, Attac, FIFA, IOC, …)
• Multinational (Daimler, BASF, Roche, GORE …)
• Supranational (European Union, United Nations, North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, World Trade Organisation, Organisation for Security and Cooperation, The World Bank, …)
