Kurzfassung

The mammalian retina has the ability to adapt to the marked daily changes in the environment. This facilitates the retina to comply with daily changes in metabolic and functional demands and - on a long-term basis - may contribute to their survival. The gene Clock is a component of peripheral clocks and therefore may promote functional adaptation of the retina to time of day. This facilitates the retina to comply with daily changes in metabolic and functional demands and - on a long-term basis - may contribute to their survival. The gene Clock is a component of peripheral clocks and therefore may promote functional adaptation of the retina to time of day. The aim of the present study is to explore the role of Clock in daily regulation of retinal gene expression and intraocular pressure by using Clock-deficient mice.
