IL-17 in the centre of psoriasis and cardiovascular disease
Laufzeit: 01.01.2014 - 31.12.2015
Kurzfassung
We substantiated previous claims that psoriasis patients have a higher cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk profile compared to healthy individuals. Using a novel mouse strain, K14-IL-17Aind/+, we could repeat these findings also in a murine system. The aim of this grant is to further understand the link between psoriasis and CVD. For that, we will use our new IL-17A overexpression system and test for the role of IL-17 is sustaining the disease, and further test for how long is IL-17A needed for...We substantiated previous claims that psoriasis patients have a higher cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk profile compared to healthy individuals. Using a novel mouse strain, K14-IL-17Aind/+, we could repeat these findings also in a murine system. The aim of this grant is to further understand the link between psoriasis and CVD. For that, we will use our new IL-17A overexpression system and test for the role of IL-17 is sustaining the disease, and further test for how long is IL-17A needed for the mice to develop not only psoriasis, but also CVD. Using antibodies specific to IL-17, IL-6 and TNFa, we will also investigate the interplay between the different pro-inflammatory cytokines. Finally, we plan to investigate how treatment against IL-17 affects CVD disease in psoriasis patients in the frame of a clinical trial.» weiterlesen» einklappen
