We attempt to develop a new model of demyelination and remyelination. We have crossed the MOGi-Cre mice to the iDTR mice, thus resulting in mice that express the diphtheria toxin (DT) receptor by oligodendrocytes. Following DT injection, oligodendrocytes die and myelin is lost in the process of demyelination. About a week later new oligodendrocytes are formed and the process of remyelination occurs.
