Kurzfassung

Since 1984, autologous serum eye drops (ASED) are used for the treatment of several ocular surface disorders.  The use of serum is still an experimental approach and so the manufacturing procedures vary by institution. A standardized process for manufacturing ASED in a closed system was implemented in Mainz.
