Composites, compomers and glass ionomer cements are widely used in the restorative therapy of the primary dentition. However, the problem with paste-like materials is the void-free application and a sufficient marginal adaptation. In the primary dentition bulk-flow materials are now used, which can be applied as a 4 mm layer and show lower shrinkage stress. In the Department of Operative Dentistry clinical studies on bulk fill restoratives are among the main research focuses. In a clinical study, class-II-cavities of primary teeth were filled in a split-mouth design with bulk-flow material Venus Bulk Fill and with compomer Dyract as control.
