Kurzfassung
The visibilty and perception of "aesthetic" and "invisible" orthodontic appliances (such as lingual bracket systems, orthodontic aligners and ceramic brackets) should be assessed by laymen and professional personal with the help of a questionaire. In addition to question analysis the individual eye movement during inspection of the appliances and facial aesthetics will be recorded with modern oculometric methods (eyetracking) and a possible correlation with the questionaire could be applied....The visibilty and perception of "aesthetic" and "invisible" orthodontic appliances (such as lingual bracket systems, orthodontic aligners and ceramic brackets) should be assessed by laymen and professional personal with the help of a questionaire. In addition to question analysis the individual eye movement during inspection of the appliances and facial aesthetics will be recorded with modern oculometric methods (eyetracking) and a possible correlation with the questionaire could be applied. Thereby both chronological aspects and the location of interest will be assessed. The goal is to derive possible recommendations for the physician with regard to patient information and aesthetic perception. It is the first study to combine cross-sectional investigations with modern eyetracking techniques and is supported by the German Society of Lingual Orthodontics (DGLO e.V.)
