This will be investigated in a randomized, controlled and blinded study in a parallel group design with four study visits. 120 patients with fixed appliances in both jaws are included in the study with a minimum of 15 bleeding sites, but without advanced periodontitis. Patients will be randomized into two groups, with one half performing oral hygiene measures with an Oral-B Triumph Care / TM 9500 Toothbrush (with Smart Guide), Crest Pro Health toothpaste and Crest Pro Health mouthwash. The second half is brushing the teeth with a manual hand toothbrush and toothpaste. An examination of the gingiva occurs with the gingivitis index according to Silness and Loe. The quantity of plaque is recorded with the modified plaque index according to Quigley and Hein. Furthermore a digital plaque imaging Analysis (DPIA) as well as an inspection of the oral soft tissue (OST) is carried out.
