Aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) family encompassess 19 enzymes involved in detoxification of endogeneous and exogeneous aldehydes. In human cancers, enzymatic activities of different ALDH family members have been implicated in chemoresistance associated with cancer stem cells.
