Postpartum depression is a frequent perinatal mental disorder - about 19% of new mothers suffer from depressive symptoms in the first three months postpartum, about 10% suffer from clinical depression, "major depression", with severe consequences: not only mothers, but also the offspring in his or her emotional, cognitive and social development are affected. The causes of postpartum depression are complex and not fully understood. The causes of postpartum depression are complex and not fully understood. Previous research has neglected to study the interaction between prenatal psychosocial, genetic and biological influences. The present longitudinally designed study follows up on 50 pregnant women and looks at the interaction of attachment as psychological factor and plasma oxytocin as well as epigenetic markers of the oxytocin receptor gene as biological factors in the development of postpartum depressive symptoms. Moreover, we investigate the impact of specific psychosocial and genetic variables on maternal sensitivity in mother-child interactions three months postpartum.» weiterlesen» einklappen
