This dyadic support program (adapted from Häusler et al., 2014) aims at reducing stress in patients and their caregivers, preventing psychosocial crises and thus stabilizing the domestic care. The support program is administered by professionaled nursing staff who spends seven home visits. The support program is administered by professionaled nursing staff who spends seven home visits. During each home visit a specific topic (e.g., psychoeducation, problem solving, stress management, communication) is addressed using a dyadic approach. Psychobiologial stress markers (saliva samples for the later analysis of salivary cortisol and salivary alpha-amylase and hair cortisol) are repeatedly assessed as well as information on health, partnership quality and health-related quality of life.
