Due to the immaturity of their lungs, preterm infants are at risk for hypoxemic events. Thus, in order to warrant a normal neurologic development, supplemental oxygen delivery is a mainstay of treatment. During the past years an algorithm has been integrated in a software equipment for neonatal ventilators. It has already been clinically tested and is commercially available. Aim of the project is to evaluate a modified algorithm which allows for faster automated FiO2 adjustments in terms of achieving requested oxygen saturation levels in ventilated preterm infants.
