Patient reported outcome measurement (PROM) in order to meet the patient’s needs is essential to evaluate the efficacy and efficiency of any intervention – in research as well as in clinical practice. There is no validated instrument in German to assess MM-patients’ symptom burden and HR-QoL. However, MyPOS (Myeloma Palliative care Outcome Scale) is a multiple myeloma specific patient-reported outcome measurement tool that is validated in English. There is no validated instrument in German to assess MM-patients’ symptom burden and HR-QoL. However, MyPOS (Myeloma Palliative care Outcome Scale) is a multiple myeloma specific patient-reported outcome measurement tool that is validated in English. An adaptation of MyPOS to the German setting would be the first version of this tool translated from English into a foreign language and prerequisite for the evaluation of specialized interventions which aim to improve HR-QoL in palliative patients with multiple myeloma. The aim of the currently proposed pre-study is to adapt MyPOS, a myeloma-specific version of the Palliative Outcome Scale (POS), an instrument to measure quality of life (QoL) in palliative situations, to Germany. The objectives are (1) translation from English into German, (2) qualitative validation by cognitive interviews, and (3) assessment of acceptability of MyPOS by patient involvement.
