The goal of this proposal is to investigate the impact of STAT5 on HP1α-mediated regulation of gene expression. In mammals, the STAT family comprises 7 genes, STAT1 – STAT6, including 2 isoforms of STAT5. As Drosophila STAT is most similar to mammalian STAT5, we will focus on STAT5 in this proposal. We further want to investigate the regulation of HP1α in the context of different leukemic oncogenes.
