Kurzfassung
Multi-element phased arrays are extensively used in clinical magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to improve the signal to noise ratio (SNR) or reduce acquisition time by undersampling the k-space while acquiring with so called parallel imaging. This project aims to adapt this technique for MRI of hyperpolarized helium-3 which plays an important role in new methods for lung imaging. A new monolithic-resonator technology will be involved to develop flexible multi-element phased arrays...Multi-element phased arrays are extensively used in clinical magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to improve the signal to noise ratio (SNR) or reduce acquisition time by undersampling the k-space while acquiring with so called parallel imaging. This project aims to adapt this technique for MRI of hyperpolarized helium-3 which plays an important role in new methods for lung imaging. A new monolithic-resonator technology will be involved to develop flexible multi-element phased arrays without discrete components. So far standard arrays have been made with discrete components which restrict their use for material issues. By using a component-free technique, completely flexible arrays could be made and produced at lower costs. A much higher compactness will be reachable and will open large perspectives for future implementation of massively parallel MRI approaches, a current trend that requires the reduced size and the sensitivity of the phased coil elements» weiterlesen» einklappen
