The purpose is to test whether (1) food-cue exposure with a focus on expectation violation (CEEV) is an applicable intervention in adolescents with binge pathology and eating in the absence of hunger (EAH) measured by ad-libitum consumption of typical binge foods and (2) to prove feasibility for secondary outcomes, recruitment and follow-up procedures. Adolescents will be randomly assigned to either CEEV or treatment as usual (TAU), however, the study procedure will remain the same for all participants. The RCT was approved by the Ethical Review Committee of the local medical association (No. 2020-15131) and preregistered in the German Clinical Trial Register (DRKS00024009).
