The latest approach is the introduction of Artificial Intelligence means. Breast Cancer is the most frequent malignant tumour of women in whole Europe and the USA. To keep the tumor low in size and not spread into the lymph nodes, any cancer must be detected as early as possible. All currently used imaging modalities, such as Mammography, Ultrasound and Magnetic–Resonance Imaging (MRI) suffer from their high amount of false positive results what leads to unnecessary biopsies or operations. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) means could probably improve the situation. In the field of digital mammography computer programs containing artificial intelligence methods do already exist and are used for Computer–Aided Diagnostics (CAD). As a result of an expert review provided by the Department of Radiology, a cooperation between Bracco Imaging/Altana Pharma AG, Milan/Konstanz and Semeion Research Centre of Sciences of Communication, Rome and the Department of Radiology was initiated. The aim is to evaluate and use Artificial Intelligence methods for analysis of MR-images of the female breast. Initial results show that it should be possible to program a software prototype for automatic assessment of contrast-enhancing lesions in breast MRI.» weiterlesen» einklappen
