Pain-related fear has typically been measured via self-report instruments with limited use for treatment and prediction of treatment success. In a series of studies, we developed and validated a Behavioral Avoidance Test (BAT-Back) for chronic low back pain (CLBP) patients in order to assess pain-related avoidance behavior via direct observation. We also aime at providing cut-off scores in order to identify individuals who might benefit from exposure treatment for pain.
