Besides appropriate dimensioning and choice of materials, the understanding of the fatigue behavior is fundamental for a reliable and economical operation of fatigue-loaded components. This understanding is very closely linked to the microstructure and characterized by complex, interconnected processes, whereby this is initially independent of whether the components are loaded with a constant stress amplitude and with a service or random load sequence, respectively. This understanding is very closely linked to the microstructure and characterized by complex, interconnected processes, whereby this is initially independent of whether the components are loaded with a constant stress amplitude and with a service or random load sequence, respectively. Within the scope of this paper, parameters such as roughness and near-surface residual stresses as a result from varying machining processes are investigated with respect to their influence on the fatigue life of hourglass specimens of quenched and tempered SAE 4140 (42CrMo4) steel. Beside results for constant amplitude tests, also cyclic deformation curves for the load-time history Carlos lateral are discussed for the same material within the scope of this paper.» weiterlesen» einklappen
