The influence of chemical composition and lattice disorder on the electronic structure and superconductivity of pseudoternary borides is reported. Photoelectron spectra of bulk Ho(Rh1-xOsx)4B4 reveal a shift of EF as well as a broadening of the d-band structure quantitatively explaining the Tc(x) behavior. Alternatively a d-band broadening in thin films of Ho(Rh1-xRux)4B4 was observed by heavy ion irradiation.
