The Internet has been in use in German politics for some 20 years now. This has meant that politicians can avoid being controlled by the mass media and instead use their personal websites to speak to voters directly about their lives, their values,their activities and their aims, in both words and pictures. This “authentic” means of communication follows the patterns and strategies of “verbal” and “visual” politics.
