The contribution aims at pointing out current challenges for the professionalisation of adult education in Europe by analysing the specific situation towards professionalisation in Germany in its European context. The analysis highlights some difficulties and some challenges that need to be dealt with. The article considers the system and the situation of the staff working in adult education and provides an overview on the situation of a broad variety of activities in adult education.
