It is well know that patients with large hiatal hernia present with altered esophageal motility. However, it has not been studied whether surgical reduction and fixation of the EGJ lead to normalization of altered motility including weak esophageal persitalsis, IEM, shortened esophagus, esophageal spasms and hypercontractility.
