Allergic Asthma Research Center (Asthma Core Facility)
Laufzeit: 01.01.2005 - 31.12.2009
Kurzfassung
Research areas and direction: This project gathers all the existing projects on allergic asthma in the SFB 458 by validating the molecular, cellular and immunological findings of the different groups through physiological and cellular analysis of the lung. To this end we perform both non invasive and invasive plethysmography, teach to perform BAL and to isolate and analyze immunological relevant cells from the lung. This project acquires also relevant techniques standardized by all the groups...Research areas and direction: This project gathers all the existing projects on allergic asthma in the SFB 458 by validating the molecular, cellular and immunological findings of the different groups through physiological and cellular analysis of the lung. To this end we perform both non invasive and invasive plethysmography, teach to perform BAL and to isolate and analyze immunological relevant cells from the lung. This project acquires also relevant techniques standardized by all the groups of the SFB and transfer those technique to the facility. From the literature we selected relevant area of interest for the Asthma Core Facility such as the hygiene hypothesis and relevant immunological cells (analysis of T helper cells and T regulatory cells, dendritic cells and CD8 cells).
It is therefore a Center for the development and improvement of new methods to study allergic diseases such as asthma. In fact we hope to develop
1. New non-invasive and invasive well accepted methods to study lung physiology.
2. Development of new asthma protocols to study the role of different immunocompetent cells in asthma.
