Kurzfassung
Recent studies have suggested that innate immune cells, including innate lymphoid cells (ILCs), intestinal epithelial cells, mononuclear phagocytes (MPs), and granulocytes of the intestinal mucosa, play important roles in maintaining gut homeostasis by protecting the host from foreign pathogens and by negatively regulating excess immune responses to commensal bacteria and dietary antigens. Inappropriate immune reactions to commensal bacteria can lead to the development of inflammatory bowel...Recent studies have suggested that innate immune cells, including innate lymphoid cells (ILCs), intestinal epithelial cells, mononuclear phagocytes (MPs), and granulocytes of the intestinal mucosa, play important roles in maintaining gut homeostasis by protecting the host from foreign pathogens and by negatively regulating excess immune responses to commensal bacteria and dietary antigens. Inappropriate immune reactions to commensal bacteria can lead to the development of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), such as Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). We focus on the role of ILCs, and attempt to clarify the mechanism in the pathogenesis of IBD.
